I’ve always been a fan of shape wear. 1820’s corsets aside, if it could help me snatch my waist, then I was happy to try it! For some reason however, women have been inclined to speak about shape wear in hushed tones like it was a little secret. But with brands like Spanx coming out with fashionable, sexy shapewear, the world is seemingly (openly) embracing spandex again.
So, when Kim Kardashian announced the launch of her shapewear brand SKIMS, I along with many others were dying to get our hands on the products. After all, Kim is notorious for her tiny, snatched waist.
My computer fingers are not as fast as most, and I’ll admit, I missed the first launch which sold out incredibly fast. In the meantime, life happened and I missed the next few restocks. Eventually a couple of months ago, bored with staying in the house, I decided to try my luck and I copped a few of the coveted spandex garments.
I picked up the Core Control Brief, the Core Control Mid-Thigh Short and the Sculpting Mid Waist Brief.
My review of these pieces and the brand generally was based on five key points: comfort, performance, price, style, and availability.
The Core Control Brief and Mid-Thigh Short have essentially the same function, with the only difference being that one is a short and it smooths the thighs, so I will tackle them together.
Comfort 8/10: Shapewear isn’t technically supposed to be comfortable, however, the core control pieces as well as the sculpting piece were super comfortable. In fact, I almost forgot I had them on. It helps that the sizing guide on the website is very accurate, and the clear plastic grip on the back of the products helps them stick onto your skin preventing any rolling down. A bonus is that the shape wear is virtually invisible underneath your clothes.
Performance 9/10: I was thoroughly impressed with how well the shapewear works. My waist was accentuated, my stomach was sculpted and contoured, and my butt got a lift worthy of Dr. Miami!
Price 7/10: The products are a bit pricey, although they are marketed as being on the higher end of the price market. Importantly however, when it comes to shapewear, spend the money, the snatch-a-tion waiting for you on the other side will always be worth it.
Style 5/10: The products I bought were barely special in terms of design. They were basic shapewear, and did what they had to do.
Availability 9/10: SKIMS ships world-wide which I think is fantastic and shows that the brand is thinking bigger than just North America.
Surely can’t wait to try them❤️love the review and I especially love how you are always detailed
